"We taste what we expect to taste"
« on: April 16, 2014, 05:17 PM »
Went to the 'fridge and took out one of my cycling bidons, which I had filled with cloudy lemonade a couple of days ago while working in the garden (the bidons fit inside an insulated case that helps to keep them cool).  Took a swig and thought "that's odd : there's a slight tang of something fruity -- I suppose I didn't wash the bidon out before filling it with lemonade".  Finding that it was too frustrating (i.e., too slow) to drink from the bidon, I removed the top and poured it into a glass.  At which point I noticed it was guava juice (plus mould, but that's neither here nor there).  So how can I drink guava juice, not notice that it has no fizz, and think that I am drinking lemonade with a slight hint of fruit ?!
