Cantonese Chicken vs Garlic Chicken Sizzler
« on: March 08, 2014, 07:04 PM »
Not sure if should be posting Chinese in 'Pictures of Your Curries', but hey ho! :)

Had to try Scotty's Cantonese sauce (where has he gone by the way?), and I have to say it was incredible. Battered and deep-fried some thin pieces of pre-poached chicken, then added to heated sauce in wok. Heated chicken through then added flash-fried onion and green pepper and some spring onion. All with egg-fried rice. Absolutely lovely sauce, Scotty. Thanks again :)

As Mrs G doesn't like sweet & sour-type sauces, had to knock up a Garlic Chicken Sizzler-type effort with sticky garlic coating.

All in all, thoroughly enjoyable :)

I think scotty was cooked up after asking for the elusive BBQ sauce recipe that no-one seems to be able to get.

Nice plates btw

How did the cantonese sauce taste? sweet? savoury? spicey?

I'll be making my bbq sauce up next week and i'll post up the recipe as its not far off the TA sauce but I do cheat a little.

Hi Geezah.

The sauce tasted quite sweet when I made it a few days ago. Maybe reduced in sweetness as I used it.

I still felt the need to put in a couple of glugs of lemon juice to temper it a little - plus a little water to loosen up the sauce.

All in all - it is sweet (though not unlike my local TA). Personally, I'd reduce the sugar a little next time and put a little more chilli heat in there.

But well worth the effort. I was pleasantly surprised with all the ketchup, HP sauce and Lea & Perrins that went in there :)

All these chinese pics whetted my appetite so whilst in Tesco I saw some beef strips in the sell off so when my soup maker base was going through the motions, I knocked up Chings Yang Yang crispy beef with some Yang Chow rice. I do enjoy chinese now and again. Glad the missus is away cos the kitchen looks a tip.  :-\

Why don't you click on to Khoan Vong on utube his recipes seem authentic
His Ebook is well worth a few quid
The recipes are more or less the same as Scots
Im not saying scot got them from here but if he has stopped posting then its worth a look

And me, downloaded some of his vids, just incase that Khoan decides to remove some of them again ie- the curry paste vids. ;)
