Hi Guys....just joined the site and looking forward to learning some curry making skills. I moved to Limousin in France last march and the main thing I miss(apart from family and friends) is my fave restaurant, "The Bombay Nite" in Felixstowe. A brill restaurant who would tweak my curries exactly as I wanted them. The nearest Indian restaurant to me now is 50miles away and as such I've started to make my own curries. I've tried chewy's base which worked a treat and tonight I'm having a go at Coryanders. I tend to go for savoury curries and my faves are, (all chicken), madras,dopiaza,vindaloo,balti,jalfrezi, chicken chilli massala and the occasional phal. If anyone out there has a strong recommendation for any of these please let me know.

Welcome to the site hotandspicey, as far as France is concerned I've only eaten curries in Paris which were nothing to write home about. As you'll know there is nothing like the culture of BIR in France so making your own curries will hopefully get you to the point where you have your very own "takeway" in your own kitchen.

Both chewy and coryander have produced recipes that have got good rating on this site. Coryander is no longer active on this site but chewy is, and he produces great videos so you might want to check out some of his posts.

Welcome H&S.  Fried, one of our other regular forum members also decamped to France and is therefore in the same boat as yourself.  Whilst the French are renowned for THEIR cuisine, I believe IR's in France leave much to be desired and i'm sure there'll be much more authentic BIR replicas being produced in your own kitchen

Welcome from Paris. One of the joys/ problems of cooking curry in France, is not having to compare it to your local takeaway. Your curries will quickly exceed your expectations, but you won't be able to try to replicate exact recipes.
