« on: December 20, 2013, 05:37 PM »
Hi
Having purchased both Micks ebooks a few weeks  back I thought id give a recipe a go opted for the shashlick as I have never had one before and the pictures for the shashlick on its own is very tempting I didn't have any mr naga so used green chilli pickle.

Chicken tikka shashlick I would have liked a bit more charring on it but got impatient chicken tikka at the bach

Chicken tikka  shaslick jalfrezi

Garlic and coriander naan took my eye off it bit more well done than I wanted

I agree looks amazing the only thing i think it would lack is the Tandoor flavour..I don't see the point in making tandoori chicken without the tandoor flavour through the sauce..for me it has to be BIR nothing else...i made some last week..tasted ok..but no tandoor flavour so i wouldn't bother making them again...ottis

Welcome ottis

Don't know about the CBM recipe, but a Shashlic is a Tandoori flavoured dish!

Especially the chunky onion and green peppers, pre-roasted in the tandoori marinade.
It's the whole point of the dish and sets it apart from others.

You can get a similar flavour, pan frying, like my Tuk Tuk recipes, but not quite as good
as the veg kebab taste you get from a Tandor or grill.

cheers Chewy

no probs chewy..it still looks impressive..I know it is probably the next best thing to a tandoor..I suppose we have to make amends without a tandoor...The main thing is if you love it, then thats all that matters..cheers mate..ottis ..and the beat goes on
