Poundland onion bags
« on: December 20, 2013, 08:33 AM »
Poundland are doing these onion bags and they are very good.  I usually get 5 kg of Dutch onions (in the orange nets) and after using a couple of Kg for a batch of base gravy often quite a lot of what's left don't last very long, even if kept in the dark.  Seem absolutely fine in these bags.  Had some onions in one for ages, and they are as fresh as when they first went in. I've just bought another one.  100 % cotton with a dark polyester lining. The little zip on the side is very handy.  Machine washable at 40 degrees apparently.  Anyway, just thought to let everyone know.  They would also make great Christmas presents.  ;D  They cost one pound.

Hi,

It's funny, these cost ?1 at my local Poundland too!

I bought one of these a good few months ago for exactly the same reason as you. I buy the 5lb bags of onions too and bought this to put the 'left over' onions into.

As well as keeping them as fresh as possible, not being full of holes like the onion nets means the bits of skin that fall off don't end up everywhere in the cupboard either.

I think our Poundland has balti dishes too, but I've not bought one since they seem a little flimsy, but that's to be expected for ?1

The onion bags are indeed a fine buy.  Also got these tea towels from Poundland's Kitchen Corner range.  Seem better for general household dusting, rather than wiping up curry spillage, but they are OK.  As chilli chopper says the balti bowls are on the flimsy side.  I won't be bothering with those.  Not found much else there that has taken my fancy as yet, apart from the multi-packs of cheesy Doritos.
