Khanh & I went to Hengist in Aylesford last night, and I was very impressed indeed. The owner/chef is Richard Phillips, allegedly a "TV Celebrity Chef", with the likes of which I would normally have no truc (apart from Raymond Blanc jr), but this guy clearly knows his onions and the combinations of flavours were out of this world. I had poached egg followed by grilled hake, and Khanh had Cromer crab followed by English lamb, but these brief descriptions do no justice whatsoever to the actual combinations of ingredients and flavours of which each dish was composed.
