Carnation Condensed Milk

My tin says 'peaches' but that doesn't make it Carnation Condensed Milk. Evaporated milk is a completely different, albeit milk based, product.

I used condensed milk in my base once in error, should have been carnation milk. The finished curry was far too sweet for me and thickened up to quickly.
Made a great CTM though which the kids loved so all was not lost.

i'm pretty sure it's the evaporated milk that i use ie not condensed milk.

this tin is from aldi.

ps i could not resist but the tin show raspberry's and i think black grapes.

i've not tried the condensed milk and will look out for it. your idea of using in CTM might just be an improvement i've been looking for. my local restaurant CTM is for defo a bit more thicker in terms of cream than mine. many thanks for the idea.

JerryM, if what you are making calls for it to be sweet and creamy ( Korma/CTM) then Carnation Condensed Milk is excellent,Evaporated Milk is unsweetened and tastes rank on it's own

you know i would not be able to resist getting the tin out the fridge again. i've scoured the tin and no - no serving suggestions so they must be in the tin. i guess in today's world you can't rely on the ingredients list either.

Right, I'm off to Aldi tomorrow : no "Serving suggestion" will result in one tin, and a strongly worded letter of complaint,  being sent to each of the Advertising Standards Authority and the Food Standards Agency !  Odd that there's no picture of a horse, though ...

JerryM, my Mrs recently bought Carnation Condensed Milk in a tube (like tomato paste comes in) I think it was 170gms, handy to be able to use what you want then pop the cap back on, lasts three weeks once opened kept in the fridge.Cost

Jerry (spreadsheet master!), I know you like the milder curries, you must try condensed milk - I think it might give you that "missing" part in curries like korma, CTM, butter chicken, even the chicken mogul you like. Give it a go,
