Would anyone have a review on the quality of the pans/chef spoon/tawa that julian/curry2go store is selling?

Do you have a gas or halogen hob gagomes?  I can't remember. The reason I ask is I have managed to bend the bases of 2 good quality (I think) aluminium pans on my halogen.  They now wobble about on the hob surface, and are effectively useless (hot spots etc.).  A new stainless pan I got recently seems up to the job, so far.

Rob get a rubber hammer and give the pan base a smack - it will go back level again and will cook just fine. Ours have bowed at the bottom as well due to high heat and lots of use -it will sort it just fine

So your thoughts is that Julian's utensils are a little overpriced and no better than the alternatives. For people like me who moved out of UK to Ireland and has not so many shops around where to look this stuff up, would dadibhais ship them abroad and can a mere mortal buy directly from them?

Rob, I have a normal hob cooker and I think I know what you mean as I saw that in my moms kitchen ware. I think there is already a workaround for it though. :)

yes and No.   ;) I think his sonex pan is overpriced. It is certainly better than many alternatives that I have seen but others will likely be on par..

re Dadi.....s  a simple look at the website should answer all your questions.  ;) delivery charges, export enquiries etc etc all VERY easily laid out.

if it helps though the spoon you want will be found putting in a search for 'heavy duty spoon'  I use the 16".  or you can search serving spoon to bring up the cheaper ones at

Is pressure cooker the correct name for that pot that whistles when the pressure hits a certain threshold?

A search on dadhibais shows a few double burner stoves rather than pots, as I was expecting.

They don't all whistle.  What they do is to vent steam under controlled conditions to maintain a constant pressure all the while that (a) sufficient energy (in the form of heat) is supplied, and (b) liquid remains in the container.  If the first fails, it will lose pressure; if the second fails, all bets are off.

Only had a quick look and didn't see any pressure cookers on there.  Some of the gear is pretty high end industrial stuff remember. What size are you after?  7l or similar?

the c2go one i bought was slightly bowed when i bought it, never thought of beating it back into shape, thanks for the tip  :)

Confused, Goncalo : not sure what you mean by "each".  The only two types of pressure cooker with which I am familiar are (a) the old-fashioned type with two or three stackable weights and a tapered rod, and (b) the modern type with a rotary dial (unpressured, low pressure, high pressure) and two or more fail-safe vents.  I would avoid the old type like the plague (because I am risk-averse) but I have no compunction using the new type so long as I remember to turn the pot so that the major over-pressure vent (which is in the lid, and which allows the gasket to blow out if necessary) is always turned to the wall. If you were to have the latter pointing forwards from the stove and it blew, and you were standing in front of it, you could be horribly scalded.
