OK, someone cooks a nice base posted on here followed by the final dish recipe, With all the ingrediants for the base, and all the ingrediants for the final dish, they go together well for a reason! Why cook someones elses base recipe and then add someone elses mix or wonder off into another direction, Isnt the aim to make a combination so both match, Its like going to a wedding in a suit and tie but then wearing jogging bottoms instead of the trousers that match the suit, Thats why so many are getting total mismatches and not the right taste,
Cant wait to have custard on my sunday roast! ???

Well, for many reasons, such as :

1) I have X's base ready-prepared, have just read Y's main-course recipe, and want to try it without the hassle of making the base that Y used.

2) I have been using X's base with X's main-course recipe for some time, but have just read Y's new base recipe; since Y has not yet published a main-course recipe, I have little option (if I want to try Y's base) but to try it with a main-course recipe from someone other than Y.

3) I am just interested to see how the two will work together.

and so on.

I agree with you Steve. While there are many good bases on this forum the differences can be quite substantial between them. I don't think you'd make an inedible curry no matter what combination you used but in the first instance and particularly if you're going to critique the recipe the base and curry recipe should be made to spec.
