The way google ranks websites is accrording to your page rank or PR.

This is complex but in essence google ranks your site based on links from like minded sites linking to you.

For example google has PR10 or page rank 10 which means its the best everyone links to it.
Cr0.co.uk is only a PR2 at the moment, i am trying to build up backlinks with like minded sites and we are predicted PR3 at the next Google Update.

So if you want to help if you have a website put our link on it, or if you are visiting a website leave our link in the links sections this will help us.

Heres the technical stuff on Page Rank

PageRank is a patented method to assign a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of "measuring" its relative importance within the set. The algorithm may be applied to any collection of entities with reciprocal quotations and references.

PageRank was developed at Stanford University by Larry Page (hence the name Page-Rank [Vise and Malseed, 2005]) and Sergey Brin as part of a research project about a new kind of search engine. The project started in 1995 and led to a functional prototype, named Google, in 1998. Shortly after, Page and Brin founded Google Inc., the company behind the Google search engine, which still has PageRank as a key element.

In other words, a PageRank results from a "ballot" among all the other pages on the World Wide Web about how important a page is. A hyperlink to a page counts as a vote of support. The PageRank of a page is defined recursively and depends on the number and PageRank metric of all pages that link to it ("incoming links"). A page that is linked to by many pages with high PageRank receives a high rank itself. If there are no links to a web page there is no support for that page.

Numerous academic papers concerning PageRank have been published since Page and Brin's original paper. In practice, the PageRank concept has proven to be vulnerable to manipulation, and extensive research has been devoted to identifying falsely inflated PageRank and ways to ignore links from documents with falsely inflated PageRank.

Important, high-quality sites receive a higher PageRank, which Google remembers each time it conducts a search. Of course, important pages mean nothing to you if they don't match your query. So, Google combines PageRank with sophisticated text-matching techniques to find pages that are both important and relevant to your search. Google goes far beyond the number of times a term appears on a page and examines all aspects of the page's content (and the content of the pages linking to it) to determine if it's a good match for your query.

I couldn't believe it when I saw the post on the bbc, which is why I had to reply and let Darth know.

I only made darth's base and madras for the first time the other day and it went down a storm with the people I was cooking for.  Told them where I got the recipe from too as well as various people in the UK when I was back in July.

What a cheek though, copy and pasting direct from here with the same formatting and everything!!

Admin, I know various sites that I can recommend the site on here in France (where the curries are awful), so I will start getting the site listed on them.  I'd put one on my own but as I'm a web designer and that is what my site is about I don't think that'll help with your page rank (I have a 4 for mine).  Saying that, I am thinking of a links page that will have IT related stuff and usefull links for the expat over here so you never know.
