I am sorry to hear that you did not find a decent curry in Glasgow, but it I would expect as much. I'm just outside of Glasgow and in my town there are only two places out of dozens that are worth ordering from. I find your comment about ginger spot on. In the two places I buy from the chefs are a lot older than in most places, perhaps just more experienced or more old school I dont know. It does worry me that when these chaps retire I won't know where to find a good bhuna within ten miles of my home.
I gather though that I am not alone and would bet most members here would say that, regardless of where they live, it is getting increasingly difficult to find a good curry.

I'm wondering if the quality if establishments have taken a dip across the board due to the governments policy on immigration.  I know the industry is suffering and in bad shortage of experienced chefs due to many of them not being able to renew working visas.  Always wondered why Dipuraja1 stopped posting videos on YouTube a couple of years ago, maybe he's a victim of this policy and had to leave.

I am certain that our present Government's unenlightend and vote-seeking policy on immigration [1] is at least in part to blame, although I also think that we are ourselves, in that most of us accept without complaint a poor curry knowing full well that the self-same restaurant, under the same management,  has produced a far better version in the past.

[1] Which is not to suggest that any of the oppostion parties are any more enlightened or any less vote-seeking.  I remember the question being put to the leaders of all the major parties during the run-up to the last election, and the responses could all have been written by the same script writer whose sole brief was "don't worry about humanitarian issues, or redressing any wrongs done during Britain's imperial era :  just focus on getting the electorate on our side".

When BB1 first started posting and mentioned his T.A. was in Bargeddie, I was a little dubious of the location given as there is nothing there except a housing estate.  (have been to the ashoka a few years ago on the bypass)
After a little searching around on streetview, the only place it could've been was here


This was finally confirmed with his latest video and this is indeed the place.(obviously with a refit and new shop front?)
I'll definitely be paying a visit to sample some of his wares.   

I'd be very interested in hearing the chefs story. Why is this "award winning chef" now working in a back street takeaway in the middle of a housing estate? 

Is it because of things mentioned above, or maybe he's just hiding from the tax man?  ;D
Could be a multitude of reasons, but interesting all the same.

Wow, i think you need to be checking the food hygiene rating, if its applicable north of the border

That said, it doesn't mean the foods not up to scratch

i can vouch for BB1's recipes, they are top notch and indeed Glasgow cuisine, i have made his base 3 times now, the 3.5KG version and made kormas and Madras, all top notch, cant get enough of it

Aye, well hopefully after a trip down the Clansman and up to the Punjabi, my opinion of Glasgow curries will be completely reversed...only time will tell.
