I know Amazon reviews aren't always on the money, but this is one of the few products that generates over 50% of 5-star ratings (and from 224 reviews, too), and I don't think you'll be disappointed, Paul. Having used it a bit more today, I can report that it works really well - especially if you don't overload it.

Underneath the top layer of coriander in the above pic, I was delighted to discover a satisfyingly fine powder at the bottom of the grinder, so I've been experimenting with three or four ten second bursts, which gives me what I'm after without generating too much friction heat.

As said, not a pro grinder by any means, but great for what it is...

I'm looking for a suitable machine just now, so, almost a year on from initial ownership, would you recommend the Krups grinder?

I'm happy to report that I've used it every week for the last 10.75 months and it has failed to explode!

While I'd urge caution when it comes to whole nutmegs, house bricks, etc., it copes with general spice grinding duties admirably, so yes, I would definitely recommend it.

Had one for a couple of years now. Excellent. Struggled once with a heavy piece of rolled cinnamon stick and you need to watch out for spices heating too much. Viz. give it a break now and then. Easy to clean ( remember the raw rice trick ) although like anything it does tend to retain the smell of what was ground last.

Just kidding, but actually, it's a tenner dearer now than it was a year ago. Also, there appears to be a direct replacement model rebadged as a Tefal with 10g less capacity for around 20 quid.

May have to have a rethink now...
