Hello all!

I am so happy to have found this website!!  Hello to everyone, I am Chris and I love to cook curry!!

I love eating and cooking curry!! I have tried cooking curry for the last 10 years or more, and never really found that 'taste' and 'smell' that you get from your local indian restaurant!

Until now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....it was actually "leviteish" YouTube channel which got me started on the BIR route, and, I am sure all you guys know the difference in flavour once you put all the elements togethere is FAN_BLEEPING_TASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, I have perfected the Base and some curries I want to learn to make some starters... I have tried many recipes for sheekh kebabs but they always end up looking like *unmentionable*        - Already I have found a recipe on this site which looks awesome... !

Welcome Chris.  Glad to hear you having success and that you have "cracked" the base and some curry recipes   Whilst your sheek kebabs maybe look unmentionable, how did they taste?  On this subject the following thread is well worth reading through to help you on your way:

Hi curryhell, and thanks for the link. The kebabs tasted fantastic and I made lots of them!!

Basically 1kg worth of minced beef and froze whatever I didn't use.........to be honest, I could have gotten away without freezing them because they were pretty much gone in under a week

Hi Toungey and a warm welcome to cr0 my friend.

Can I offer you some advice?  Use minced lamb instead of beef.  Most British Indian Restaurants and Takeaways use lamb and if that's the taste that you trying to replicate, then you would struggle using beef.

This is my recipe for Seekh Kebab but read through the whole thread first because there is an updated recipe further into the thread.  Try them both as I believe them both to be very good and have served me well for a long long time.  Here's the link ; https://curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=4393.0

Thanks for the tip!! Yeah, I always go to buy lamb but find it too expensive!! But then again if I cam recreate the taste then it is still much cheaper than getting them from a Restaurant!

Hi Chris,

Yeah, the big skewers are great and being square, you can get a really even cook with them.  As for the expense of minced lamb, true it is dearer than beef but if can get to an Asian supermarket that has a resident butcher, you can pick up 500g for around 2.30GBP, which will make you 8 good size kebabs.
