Phil, had to check, people often mistake the two and simple say 900c when they mean 900f.

Ah, they'd be the ones from the Arts stream (when we still had streams at school) !
But having said that, I cannot find the citation of 900C of which I was thinking : the hottest I have found so far is 560C (1000F), so there is a distinct possibility that I may have mis-remembered the units  :( :( :(
