My names Tim, I have been a curry addict for years now, my 8 year old is also into her curries now so thought I would stop buying the greasy takeaways and look online for some great recipe?s.  I do cook curries but usually from some recipe book, they don't always taste like they should!

The one thing I really want to learn how to do properly is Chicken Tikka, I can never get my home cooked Chicken Tikka to taste or look like ones bought in a restaurant any advice would be great!!

Looking forward to making some of the ideas from this great site!

What a timely post.

We have a group of testers on cr0, basically testing 5 or 6 different recipes and rating them on, taste, texture, cost and ease to make.  Our latest test was infact Chicken Tikka.  Bare in mind, these test's are a bit of fun and not intended to create a list of "elite" recipes but, for someone like yourself, we believe that they will be of use.

Very fortunate first post that!!  I think I may well give Dipuraja's Chicken Tikka a crack tomorrow!  Thanks for the welcome, this is a great forum, very friendly, I only found it due to another forum (CCUK).

Enjoy the recipes. You won't be disappointed with Dips Tikka - if you can find the ingredients. I've never seen the Kashmiri Masala paste in a store, I've only ever bought from Spices of India.

Yeah I found that via Google, what I am having issues sourcing is the tandoori paste from Pasco, from what I've seen this is readily available oop north but nothing down south, I emailed Paco directly to see what I can arrange.  Anyone know of an online retailer I can get some from?

i use pataks tandoori paste - maybe easier to obtain as Pasco are relatively new company

the only item specified from pasco was the kebab paste - which gut feeling says could be left out if push came to shove.

i am also new to the forum, i couldnt get pasco tandoori paste even though i tried about five asian sores. so i settled on pataks tandoori paste instead. you wont be dissapointed ;D

Like your good self, I too was using recipe books, but always with that little something missing.

I'm a Madras fellow myself, & I can honestly say, thanks to this very knowledgable lot on here, I am now eating some of the best curries, & side dishes I have for years.

Well Dipuraja's Chicken Tikka is in the fridge awaiting tomorrow nights tasting, I am going to make some base this week and have a massive curry fest this weekend.  Going to try 4 curries at once to see which we like the most.

My cupboard now has some serious quantities of spices, buying in bulk is very much cheaper than stocking up from Waitrose
