what make of spices are best?

What would you guys say are the best make of spices NETCO or RAJAH or another make?
I use rajah alot for the ground cumin and garam masala and really most the spices i use.
Do you use these or do you make your own garam masala or mixes to add?

I use either Rajah or TRS both give excellent results ..

I use rajah i had 1kg of netco or something but thats gone in the bin ;D

I use mainly TRS, they give good results :)

i've got a real mixed bag. i think it makes difference in the cooking on one hand but i'm not really that convinced either:

curry powder - got to be rajah hot madras
chilli powder - i like my Natco
basaar - king of spice
garam - east end
tandoori masala - for CTM & tikka - got to be Leena
tandoori masala - for onion paste - got to be TRS

the rest i don't think it matters

I will try some of these spices and check out for sure east end garam masala.

For the Kashmiri Murch and Deggi Murch, I use the MDH brand.

Not saying they are the best- but the asian shops closest to me seem to stock mainly 'supreme' brand or 'east end'

I would suggest that actual spices shouldn't differ too much from brand to brand, afterall, cumin is cumin, coriander is coriander, no matter what packaging you put them in, however, masala's such as Garam, Tandoori, curry powder, bassar, Chat and so on will vary from brand to brand because the individual quantities in each mix will vary!

That's the way i see it too Ray. The same factory will often package the exact same raw products for different brands. The blurb on the side of he packet (i.e. we only select the finest and freshest spices) is part of that branding.
I've cooked spot-on curries using sainsbury's (a supermarket) spices and curry powder and tesco tandoori powder. I've also often cooked with ground spices that are old/out of date. BIR-quality food, standard.

I have the MDH deggi mirch and kashmiri powder which i like using. The mildness means you can use a lot so you get the taste without the nasty heat. I imagine any kashmiri chilli powder should give a similar result.
