How do I add a recipe to the database other than replying to an existing topic please.  I also want to raise a specific thred/topic for methods and techniques.

Up the top right of the forum screen you should see "My Messages" if you click that it will take you to your personal message inbox where you can send and recieve "PM's".

I'm not sure where to start out of 40 bases (above) which one do I use? The members poll seemed to be a bit of a damp squib with no winner it appears. Do restaurants use so many different pots of the stuff? Is there 1 base/gravy on this site in which everyone uses and has succesfully re-created all curries which are on offer in our favourite Indian Restaurant. I am keen to get started but I am confused as to where to start to attain my goal.
Sorry to be such a pain, but I want to get things right from the start.

currygall , there is no "right" place to start. Pick a base and work on it. There is no doubt that a base must be matched with the recipes. You can't mix n match.

Oh, and I tend to have a different opinion than many others have, it seems, about mixing and matching curry bases and main recipes. 

I believe you can quite satisfactorily mix them, provided that the curry base is lightly spiced, as most decent BIR curry bases are. 

If you chuck loads of spices (e.g. chilli powder) into the curry base, you obviously need to chuck less into the main recipe.   

Edit:  Sorry, I phrased this poorly.  What I meant was that if a particular curry base has lots of a particular spice in it, the main recipe obviously needs less of that spice accordingly.  For example, if a curry base has lots of chilli powder in it, the main recipe obviously needs less.
