anyone recommend a glove to protect my poor fingers when reaching inside my tandoor ?
It gets seriously hot, easily 450'C.
There seem to be plenty around but not rated anywhere as high, however as my hand wont be in there very long I expect it doesnt have to be that highly rated ?

If it's naans you are trying to extract then maybe the above would be the answer. For skewered meats you can get suede covered gauntlets that go up to the elbow. Very heat resistant but you will lack dexterity as they are so thick!

I cook with my tandoor wearing an old jumper
I pull the right sleeve down over my fingers and also have protection from the naan cushion
I never get burnt

I know a few asian chefs with no hair on their right arm, because of tandoor cooking
They are way tougher than me

Apart from singing your arm hairs, it really hurts!

How about Aga gauntlets ?

Managed to pick up a couple of battle scars along the way. Touching the inner rim of the tandoor with my forearm!! 

Ive got an old fleece now, and a pair of suede gardening gloves I bought from homebase.

The fleece is a bit crusty now lol

I bought a pair of gauntlets from Lakeland about 15 years ago. Really comfortable and much easier to use than mitts.
Looks like the ones they sell now are a little longer than mine.

Word of warning
Avoid any splashes with water or oil. (e.g. a misplaced thumb in the corner of a roasting pan  : )
Because of the loose knit, you will burn your hand when reaching in the oven.
