I took my first trip to my local restaurant wholesalers today.I've always used my local ethnic shop but I thought I'd have a look a place that restaurants/takeaways use.It was huge! I've never seen bags of rice so big,the bags of spices were massive,it would probably take me years to work my way through some of them.I managed to get hold of some catering sized jars of some Pasco pastes.I've seen this brand used by a few local takeaways so I have high hopes for them.They do look different to your usual Pataks brand,especially the kashmiri massla paste.

Yes, full of virtually everthing you could want, rice, spices, veg, fish, chicken, mutton, Mr Naga  ;D, fresh naga and the list goes on.  All at very good prices too and so close to home  ;D  Not used the pasco's pastes so let me know what you think.  I did buy a huge jar of mango chutney though    Good for pots and pans too.  Was put on to this place by the manager in Spices 

Where a outs in Barking is this?  The only wholesalers that I know of that sell this stuff in London is at Brick lane.  Do you know of others?

I regularly go to one in Southall. It is an Aladin's cave for curry lovers. I'll take some pictures the next time I go

Whereabouts in southall Bob? I've considered making a supply run down there but wouldn't know which of the shops to go to or whether they are even open to the public or account-only (trade)?

It's Siras in Springfield Road, just over the canal bridge as you enter Southall from Hayes. Leave plenty of time as it is a very very big cash and carry which is also open to the public. You will be delighted with what they have in there

Thanks Bob, looks like they're almost next door to Quality Foods's Hayes branch: http://quality-foods.co.uk/shops/ so I could check out both with one visit. Think I'll do just that as I've run out of a few things and I can almost guarantee these places will beat Asda's prices on spices, oil, rice, etc. plus I need some mr Naga.
