Lets Talk Curry / Re: Brick Lane buying advice

Thanks - I pop in from time to time.  ;D

I'd be interested if anyone knows where in London Laziza Tikka Botti paste can be bought. I only ever see the powders/masalas from Laziza.

As london says, the 'Taj Stores' is your best bet - this is the shop I always visit for spices if I am in the area. Incidentally, I've looked in here for Laziza Tikka Botti paste recently and had no luck - in fact none of the shops on Brick Lane seem to stock it unfortunately.

An alternative to Taj Stores is Bangla Town (https://goo.gl/maps/NWqzk9triRU2) which is close by. Their selection is very good also.

Great pictures. Presentation of the samosas is good, but those curries look delicious - both are making my stomach rumble.

Great looking curry. What recipes did you use out of curiosity?

Hi Mick
whats the most curries you have cooked in one day  ;D

200 is our limit Michael. We only open from 5pm - 9pm.

Many, many times, we have to stop taking orders around 7.30 pm.

Churning out 200 curries is horrendous with only me cooking, but I still really enjoy it. ??? :P :)

That is hugely impressive! I usually only cook 1-3 curries, sometimes 4, but I am wiped out after that. I cannot imagine how exhausting 200 curries must be - that is very admirable and it's great you seem to get so much enjoyment out of it.

Welcome Mikey!  :D

Definitely try CA's main course recipes (Madras, Vindaloo, etc.), as these recipes were designed to be used with his base and spice mix.

Let us know how you get on.

Bit late to the party, but a great thread, Gav Iscon. Those chips are making my mouth water.  :D

I would recommend making your own, as I feel it does impact the final product. The smell released from homemade ginger/garlic puree hitting a hot pan is delightful. It's been a while since I used pre-made, but when I did, the jars from Rajah were by far the best - others may be able to offer opinions on other brands.
