thanks for that, the reason I was asking is I'd like to make some for me and some workmates to have one lunchtime, do you think it would work ok to get to the simmer stage one night then leave to go cold then take to work the next day and put in the slow cooker? cheers, bob. thanks for your other recipe and method aswell.

hi guys, my 15 year old has a school exam where he has to make a cuury, could anyone recommend an easy basic curry to make, doesn't really matter what sort but I think an all in one pan job would be more suitable than one with a separate base, cheers, bob.

thanks for your reply fried, I've taken on board your info and I'll hold on for now with the spiced oil, what I done last time because I had no spiced oil, I used vegetable oil but added 2 tsps. of mr naga to it, not sure if this if normal practice or if anyone else would do it but it tasted and smelt good. cheers, bob.

Hi again, I've decided to try to make my own spiced oil using CA's recipe, now writing down the ingrediants and noticed "1 tbsp of green capsicum (diced)", just wanted to check this is right? I usually see capsicum in a fraction or grams, and 1 tbsp doesn't seem much. cheers, bob.

welcome to the site Gino, I've also recently joined after getting the cooking curry bug, there is loads of helpful information on here and loads of members willing to help out, I personally started to try to copy CA's base and recipes with some good results, I think it will be a long enjoyable journey making these curries, I'm sure you will also have success, all the best, bob.

Hi all, I'm getting a bit confused about some spices, CA has a recipe for his masala mix, but calls it "spice mix, mix powder, curry powder" but in his recipes he adds this and also "curry powder" is this not the same thing? also what about "garam masala" is this completely different? I hope you could enlighten me, cheers, bob.

thanks for your replies, I went through the rest of the process properly, the base looks and smells pretty good, I'll make a curry tomorrow and let you know the results and I'll try to post some pictures, then next time I'll do it the right way and see if there's much difference. thanks again, bob.

Curry Base Chat / oops, spice mix in to soon.
« on: November 24, 2013, 06:48 PM »
hi guys, I've just had my first attempt at CAs base, trouble is I got a little carried away and added the curry powder and spice mix before heating the mix rather than after, obviously I couldn't fish it out, so i'm heating it up anyway, do you think it will still be ok? and would I need to add anymore spices at the right time? cheers, bob.
