Lets Talk Curry / Re: my first curry gig
« on: October 24, 2012, 11:37 PM »
Great work Mr. T. :)

Like everyone has already said, fantastic professionalism with your presentation and all your dishes really do look 'good enough to eat' :)

I (kind of)  know how you feel when you saw the faces of the people tasting your dishes. I cooked for a party of 10  a few weeks back, but unfortunately did not get the opportunity to see them eat it, but after the meal was over and the plates were empty, each and every guest made a point of thanking me for the meal and was interested in the cooking techniques used.  :'(

The comments made me feel great and it is all thanks to the great people on this forum and the recipes they share for free!  ;D

Lets Talk Curry / Re: TWO questions only
« on: June 25, 2012, 10:34 PM »
I am with Axe on this one, so many different dishes I enjoy regularly, and certainly for question 1, it really (really!) depends on which restauarant (or T/A ) I go to. And question 2, I am still learning about cooking different dishes so everyone is my favourite  the moment I start eating it lol  :o

So, I will try..

1, Bangla Kursi (Tender Lamb Steaks with amazing marinade served with a rich & spicy sauce and flazi fried rice (Preston PR4 5JQ)
2, Chicken Madras (However, this may change several times this year!!)

Hope this helps...

Chillies in Whitchurch is good.

@ GulfExpat. Thanks for the post. Have been meaning to try The Mint & Mustard for a while now.. and the purple poppadum menu sounds fantastic!!     Really like the sound of their Taster Menu!!! A bit pricey though...

Lets Talk Curry / Re: Tender Lamb - slow cooker style
« on: May 22, 2012, 11:54 PM »
Thanks for the bump on this Colin, and thanks for the OP Paul :)

I also want to cook more with Lamb (or Mutton) - As some of you may have seen, I had partial success with mutton cooking it on the gas stove for 2 hours.

I have a slow cooker already so will be trying this the next time I cook up a batch :)

Oops, sorry for the double post. I actually forgot I had a kilo of chicken marinading in the fridge. It has been there for 48 hours. Took it out the fridge about an hour ago and is now cooking away!!! The smell is fantastic!!

Cannot wait to taste. Will get a pic on here soon........... ;D

Dear All,

My first trip back to the UK in a few years, and dropped in on a few mates in Cardiff. We went to The Balti Wallah, 72 Cowbridge Road, Canton.

In a word, stunning! The food was fantastic, and the staff were brilliant, very friendly, and more importantly for me, very helpful when discussing BIR cooking. The manager and chef wrote down a recipe for a base gravy, (which when I confirm details I'll post).

Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Rabs

Cheers Rabs, great tip!
I work about half a mile from this place and never tried it. May have to give it a try now!
