I used to brew a lot of my own beer and wine and actually accidently once made a natural sparkling elderberry wine, which blew the front off my glass cabinet door one day, when it was still carrying out a second fermentation in the bottle!! Made a complete mess of the dining room, but the remaining bottles were priceless!! :)

However once the kids came along it was more time on changing nappies than pulling corks, so I have opted for the buy a bottle now.....

My favourite lager with Indian has to be Cobra, it's not too gassy, and is quite light. Being of an older generation now, I can't drink as much as I would like to... but also a strong lager like a Carlsberg Elephant Brew or a Tennants Super Brew, just one can, allows the flavour to mingle. I don't find that beers of a lower alcohol content mingle too well with Indian as first, they are too gassy and secondly don't have a lot of flavour, especially with strong flavoured foods...

With regards to wine, my favourite has to be the "Mollydooker Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz" not cheap at about ?35 a bottle which is just right for spending a romantic evening with you're loved one sipping together, but I have to say also that one of the best wines I have and always drink to date is the Lindemans Bin 40 Merlot. At ?5.99 a bottle in most merchants that don't rip you off is a fantastic wine!!!

I used to buy the Lindemans Bin 50 Shiraz, but having tasted the Bin 40, then no contest. A lot of people have told me to try the Jacobs Creek stuff, and in particular the reserve when I was in America and they had run out of the MollyDooker, but I find Jacobs Creek which is the same sort of price as Lindemans a no no compared to Lindermans......

I know everyone has their own preferred brands and that only tasting different wines and beers will you find what suits you're palates, but if you ever get a chance to try these wines, then please don't hesitate.

Other wines I like are Argentinian Malbecs, Chillean Merlots... I like full blooded oakey red wines that give that hit, I don't like Italian light wines or french except for the Chateneauf De Pape or a full bloodied Rhone. Spanish has to be a full bloodied Rioja. Light wines are ok for a nice sunny day with friends eating bunches of Rabbit food and being pleasant to one another, but when it comes to serious flavoured foods then I'm afraid it has to be serious flavoured full bodied wines......

I used to drink white wine but now having spent many years on good reds, I find white a little bland. I do like a good Aussie Chardonay or a Strong Chablis, I've even had some very good local Greek white wines too.....

I guess I could talk all day on wines and beers that I like, but I guess i am digressing from the subject here....

On a last note, if you ever get to try these wines, especially the MollyDooker, "And it's hard to get here" only from selected merchants which you'll have to search for, then do please try these and let me know what you think :)
