hi 976, I tried out this recipe the other night with CA`s base and as I was slicing the garlic I was thinking "this is way too much" and cooking it I thought the same, but I was very surprised that the final dish wasn't overpowered  by garlic, in fact it brought out he taste of the chicken tikka, this will be one curry I will be cooking again.. and what made it more special is that this is the first curry I cooked with 2 of my home grown chillies.

love the idea of the post. it's a thought i have quite often - that i've missed a real good recipe on the site. all that i use are off the site and posted. the kashmiri is probably our fav but we really do love all that we make regularly

i add them below (no order - just as the yellow stickies come off the pile) in hope like yourself that others might take the bait. of course it goes to say i'm really greatfull to the posters for taking the time and effort to add the recipes.

for me it's amazing how much we've already got and how little needs improving.

Which one are you going to try? Which recipe did Jerry mean? Proceed with caution. There are two very different recipes within the same thread and probably loads of other options and variations.

glad of u're prompt. as a result have checked that the recipe was up to date and as u'd expect i've tweaked it a little and amended it now in the original post.

please note that i use yellow stickies to cook off and mark these up as the dish evolves over many makes. if anyone needs any of the other recipes checking just say. the site is very pedantic on cooking to "spec". this i do on my 1st go but then evolve them towards BIR. i don't generally post the changes to avoid the flax that otherwise results. i also get into trouble with myself as i don't generally update my spreadsheet. if i lost my stickies i'd be in Dickie's meadow.

I am sure most of us enjoy browsing through our glorious site but this particular post caught my attention especially with Jerry being so generous with his top list. So with respect to the man I had a wee dinner party last night based on three of his best above. I used The Ashoka base as it is my favourite. We started with Pakora, and Yogurt based dipping sauce, Spiced Onions and Papadoms. Followed by Chicken Karahi Bhuna, Butter Chicken, Chicken Patia and Vegetable Curry accompanied with Chapatis and Pilou Rice. World Class BIR replication with everything taken from the site so thank you one and all. Thirty years of the quest and last night was as good as it will get. Only wee cheeky bit was once I had prepared the pre soak of my Pakora with Potato, Cauliflower and Onions I took the leftovers added some chopped Garlic and Ginger and kicked it off in some of my Pakora Oil. As my Base was needed for the mains I cheated and used a tablespoon or two of Pataks Balti Paste to fry into the rest. added some water and let it gently simmer while I got on with the discipline of the rest. Wonderful results and a great night. Would have loved to have substituted the chicken in the Bhuna with Lamb but my guests don't like it. We love mixing and matching and the leftovers smell glorious this morning and enough for our evening meal too. Cheers Panpot.

Also I had pre cooked the Chicken having marinaded over night one third in the regular Ashoka Marinade for the Bhuna and two thirds in The Ashoka  Marinade for the Butter Chicken and Patia.PP

well pleased at your cooking result.

i too rate the standard marinade and use it quite a lot down to the ease of making it (link http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=3189.msg28438#msg28438). i tend to simmer it in a little base (5mins max and cool in the liquid) as opposed to using the oven.

as a ps i still intend to try more of the ashoka recipes as i've still not done them justice.
