Remember the Gaylord in Manchester ?
« on: November 19, 2008, 07:21 PM »
One of the  best truly Indian restaurants in the Manchester area........... well it closed down 4 years ago.

The good news is - the same people have re-opened as Seven Spices in Cheadle Hulme village & the food is as before - excellent

Ghoulie,

i do remember the Gaylord. was it just off the main drag near the arndale.

alas could never afford the prices and frequented the plazza cafe instead.

it's a bit of a jaunt for me but will keep it in mind.

yes m8 same place - it was next to the Post Office at Spring Gardens.

Prices are still uppy at the new Seven Spices in Cheadle Hulme - but you get what you apy for - food second to none.

Also another excellent authentic Indian in Bowdon - just opposite the Church - & also pricey - but fantastic food for a change - you can keep the curry mile for me at Rusholme - I've had the real stuff in the middle east & this 'fake' made for western palates stuff does nowt for me !

Ghoulie,

i've had v.good and v.poor along the mile and don't go anymore as u need word of mouth.

i've put the Seven Spice on a sticky for when any spare cash arrives.

Bowden eh - they wouldn't let my car in (footballer land).

I don't go down the " Mile " any more. We used to enjoy the Mughli but it's gone crap. Also, if you go in the daylight and park round the back  :o :o :o Mind you, Worldwide which is 30 seconds away is an awesone place to get all your ingredients from !!!

I will give the 7 Spices a go next time we are out that way.

I used to eat in the curry mile (Rusholme Manchester) but not for about 11 years or so.

Even then I was often disappointed with the curries. Many of the restaurants seemed to taste the same as well almost as if the same chef was in charge of all the kitchens.

I always thought the curry mile was well overrated, certainly compared to my student days in Leeds in the early eighties.
