Hi,
Here's my first ripe naga. Took the plunge and tried a tiny bit about 5mm x 10mm x 1mm and WOW bags of fresh chili flavour followed by an intense heat that grew and grew for about 5 mins then peaked out and left me with the all over mouth heat that you get after a good hot madras, this lasted around 10 mins then it was gone.
Popped the rest of it in a Chinese my fiancee rustled up and was surprised that the heat seemed to lessen considerably with cooking  :-\

Got about 25-30 seeds with this one bad boy so if anybody fancies having a go at growing lava, give me a pm and I'll send you some seeds.
Cheers
Mike

Hi Pauleey,
Yeah it is mate, ;D it's the frutescens, or the Indian naga jolokia, that I've grown.
There are nagas with either the frutescens or chinense genes.
Granted the pics you most normally see are of the chinense fruits especially the derived cultivar the "Dorset naga"
Either that or Peppers by post's done me up like a right kipper :(
Hot stuff either way
Sorry about the pic size in the last post

Mike/Paul

This looks like it could be a Naga Jolokia as opposed to the Naga Morrich/Dorset Naga hybrid. If it is the Jolokia it is still extremely hot - hotter than the habenero. I believe this was the original variety grown in Pakistan for the capsaicin extract for the production of pepper spray and creams (tiger balm, etc).
