I agree we should consider reducing the maximum file size from 1.5MB.  It does seem rather large for each photo Stew?  Assuming that this would really make a significant dent in your storage space of course?  I'm sure it would if people started posting videos! 

In the "How to Upload Your Photos" document above http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=1475.msg12836#msg12836 I've suggested a file size of 100 - 300 kB and an image size of 700 by 525 pixels (or smaller).  I feel reasonable resolution is required to be able to magnify and look at the texture in some detail (yes, I'm sad, I know it  :)

if its any use there are 2 good free re-size and photos editors available on these links, they are pretty good and easy to use..

I think the easiest way for XP users to quickly resize is to use the Windows XP resize powertoy. It adds a resize option to your right click menu, when right clicking on an image file. Find it here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe

Also, I mentioned in the suggestions when I joined, it would be easiest to resize files server side when the file is uploaded. Using the GD library for php, this can be done quite simply. This would mean that no matter the size of file uploaded, it  would always be saved on the server size 700 x 525, or whatever we want. I am a professional programmer and can write php so if you need help I am more than happy to oblige.

I'm trying to upload 3 photos of my curry.
Each photo is a Jpeg 768x576 and is 60kb

What am I doing wrong?
