During my membership of this forum, we have had three active moderators, each of whom has turned out to be a complete disaster.  I therefore think that a modicum of unmoderated "blatant advertising shite" is actually a quite small price to pay in exchange for the peace, quiet and tranquility that currently obtains in the absence of an active moderator.
