Continuing the thread Bob and Mike,have tried baking Sheermal(milk bread)?I haven't tried it,but it looks interesting.
Recipe:450g plain flour.
1tsp baking powder
1tsp salt
1tbsp sugar
175g,ghee or unsalted butter melted
100ml single cream
200ml warm milk
1tsp saffron strands,pounded
1 tbsp shahi jeera(royal cumin)
Ex flour for dusting
Method
Put flour,baking powder,salt and sugar into a large mixing bowl and mix well,add half the melted ghee or butter and work in.Work in the cream.Reserve 4tbsp of the milk.Add remainder of flour knead until dough is formed.
Transfer dough to board and add remaining melted fat,knead until smooth and soft and does not stick to board.
Cover dough with damp cloth and set aside for 30mins.Meanwhile preheat oven to 220Deg c(gas Mark7.bring reserved milk to boil add saffron strands,stir well and set aside.Line baking tray with hardworking paper.
Divide dough in half and make four balls out of each half.Flatten cake to a round cake,dust and rollout to a disc about 8ins in diameter.Lifting baking tray,brush with saffron milk and sprinkle with the shahee jeera.Bake in top of the oven for 7-8 mins.
