French Indian Restaurant Currys

A few pics from recent trip to France.
I've had a few curries in France over the years but was disappointed this year - although Mrs G had two Butter Chickens and a Chicken Korma and was very happy (although she stole my Butter Chicken as the Tikka Masala wasn't looking good)
First up - Murghi Makheni from Le New Kashmir, Montpellier
Now Chicken Tikka Masala - definitely not BIR version, but interesting and pretty bland....
The rice was good as were the naans (if a little small - but that's how they do them in France). To be honest it's enough for me.
I had a Ghosht Chili two days later which was better (lamb was cooked lovely) but no piccies.
Then on to Lal Qila in Lyon.
Mrs G had Butter Chicken again (and was impressed)
I had Chicken Madras and was less impressed - perhaps the overdose of fresh coriander put me off
All in all though, a good time was had by all ;D

I think your Madras would go down well and I can do a pretty decent Korma - yeah, let's go for it

That last Madras looks like a nice soup.
At least you got to try some after the first one being shut.
About 4 years ago we trawled 5 large supermarkets looking for chilli powder and ended up paying

Soup is a pretty reasonable description of it Gav. I'm all for experiencing how other countries do certain dishes so I don't really mind (but wouldn't have it again).
We managed to work out that Le Shalimar was closed on Sunday before we made it there - courtesy of the Interweb
There is definitely a Niche in the market for a good old BIR restaurant somewhere down there. The thing that struck me this year was that there were no 'chef's special' dishes on the menu. Just the standard curry dishes.
Good fun though, and the moules were good

Lived in Spain fo about 6 years and never found anywhere that madea a decent curry. That's what sparked my obsession with "make your own". Chinese on other hand, brilliant there- one restaurant that we'd not been to in about a year still remembered all the kids names and the food was "diffferent" to UK Chinese but in a nice way!

Found this one too (on my phone rather than camera) - this was actually my best curry of the three I had.
As you can see it's very oily. I'm not a great oily curry fan but can handle it if there is sauce to go with it. But mostly oil here - having said that, it was tasty oil and the meat was tender
