Hi Guys

Thought I'd try adding some naga pickle to my recent madras dish and can't say that I like it. Is it a modern development because it doesn't remind me of BIR from days gone by?

The cynic in me would suggest that almost anything that comes in a glass jar is a modern development as opposed to a traditional BIR ingredient (trying hard, but can't so far think of an exception to that rule other than pickles).

I love the Mr Naga pickle but I've never had a naga curry or any curry that tasted of added naga chillies. I've added it to my own curries and it doesn't do much for me either - I prefer to eat it as a dip!

tend to agree with edwin on this one i used it in a curry in cbms book 2 and it totally overpowered the dish for me i thought it was maybe a regional variation never tasted a curry like it in east scotland anyone any opinions on this cheers OG

cheers sp great thread glad i am not alone strangely its not too bad on its own but too much in a full dish, gonna try the same curry again (curried away chicken jalfrezi) and leave out the mr naga altogether to see how it is will post up as soon as i have time to rattle them pots and pans cheers OG
