Hi TS

LOL Fried is indeed right. It seems like you are trying to crack the toughest nut of them all. I personally as recently posted on the said 3 balties topic absolutely love the results from the Kushi balti book. But I don't think anyone else is convinced that it's the real McCoy. You could do a lot worse though. Give it a try.

Hi
TastySpice. You are indeed chasing the holy grail as most people have never had a Balti House experience. I would recommend you read a little piece written on its history by the local labour MP to get a better insite. The best you may find on most curry sites is the odd reference but realistically it's usually sold by most BIR's as an addition to there menu and is nothing more than base with balti paste added.

Commis thanks for that. Do you mean, that it is actually as easy as adding balti paste, or that if you do, you are deceiving yourself into thinking you are having a balti when actually you aint?

I think the same case can be said for every dish we make if you can not make a bir base which we cant or i have missed it.

Hi
London. That is the best way 99% of people have never had a true balti but don't be surprised if you prefer a BIR balti.

Commis,

I've never had a BIR balti. Living in the East End of London I do eat a lot in tradition Bengali and Bangladeshi restaurants and love them, back in the late 70's a lot of the place I ate in were more like cafes that restaurants and about half the price for a really good feed but now the price gap is some what less.
