Midnight Snack No. 9

A new fusion dish for supper, Chicken Tikka Windaloo
Yes, a little bit of Italian sneaking into my Indian delights.
No flock wallpaper here! ;D

Balsamic worked extremely well with extra hot chilli, Tomato and nutty curry leaves.
Then you have the contrasting flavour of the Chicken Tikka. yum

Well worth a punt if you like to tinker with flavours.
cheers Chewy

I'm a bit curried out this week, especially as I got together with fellow Geordie Gav icon
in my Gora Kitchen, had a good laugh doing a Naan cook off, H4ppy Naan V my eyeball recipe
then a Beef Balti and a bit Vindaloo.
really good fun, blokes cooking curry. ;D ;D
cheers Chewy

What was the result of the naan-off, Chewy?

Mine were H4ppy Chris's as per recipe except for half sugar and defrosted dough balls and Chewy's were a similar recipe but all milk. We made them brushed with butter, Ghee and also garlic - coriander and cooked on a steel tawa, a non stick one and one in a non stick wok. To be honest they all tasted similar and, as I put it, tasted like naan. Once the curry was loaded on them they were even better. For me, as much as I've had great success with Chris's naans and I can't see myself doing any others (although I will try yoghurt in the recipe), there are plenty similar recipes. Here's one for example
http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php/topic,6282.0.html
Where Chris has nabbed it, in my opinion, is the excellent detailed video which was the encouragement
for me to try them. I'm definitely going to try out some keema ones.

On a curry note, I've never ate as much curry in a day as I did last Friday   :) :). I also made a double portion of Vindaloo when i got home for Friday nights tea as my missus is a bit of a pain when it comes to trying a new curry although the vindaloo is now on her list. Fantastic day.

Garp, like Gav said, we hadn't planned on doing a cook off, he just arrived with his defrosted balls and Tava and I had some dough in the fridge.
I was amazed they tasted similar as I use Salt and only milk, plus I eyeball my recipe, as I don't have any scales.
Don't really know why I thought they would taste different as its an age old Naan recipe.

Anyhoo, a tip for anybody with their balls in the fridge, your Naans will work better if you put one of your balls
in the microwave for 10secs 100% to warm the dough through, before you begin.

Here's one I made earlier.  ;D Crispy Base, Crisp thin skin, soft fluffy inner. brushed with Lurpak.
