Chatting with the guys in Jai Kathmandu, Northenden M/cr last Friday and we got to talking about their chutneys & pickles - seems they blend their own from large tubs - and tasty / hot they are too. I mentioned I find Pataks lime pickle very good - they laughed and said Patak himself eats here often & is always trying to nick their recipes.  When they described him, I have often seen the guy there - skinny asian, usually dark blue suit - drives a Roller.  Never realised it was Patak.

I agree, but the best lime pickle I ever tried was Chinthe Burmese lime pickle (should one now say "Myanmarese" ?!).  Sadly Chinthe ceased production, and nothing I have tried since has equalled it.

Hi there, I wondered if anyone would be able to help me locate Patak's Madras Kebab Paste.  It seems to only come in 2.4 KG tubs i.e. catering size, and not at all in supermarket sizes.

Staggeringly, from Poundland !  And of course at

Well after visiting 6 different Poundland shops localish to me, one manager told me to phone the Customer Service, so i did this morning and it was a mistake, a discontinued item, it shouldn't have been put up on the website.

I can't recall which ones it was but I know that one pound shop does the tikka masala paste and another does the tandoori masala paste. Only in tiny jars though ... the shrinkflation variety. Certainly Home Bargains has one or the other though.
