I don't think that's what the OP was after as 1 hour is hardly "slow-cooked".  My PC has a slow cook mode that is programmed for 8 hours.  Put it together in the morning and come home to a cooked meal is what the OP was after.

I would ideally like a tried and tested recipe where all the raw ingredients are put into the slow cooker at silly o'clock in the morning and 12 to 13 hours later when we get home a nice Ruby is waiting.

Probably wishful thinking unless I can find an Alchemist.

Hi
T63, saw your post before I headed to the library this morning and guess what. Curries and Spicy Dishes for your slow cooker, author Kris Dhillon. I don't have a slow cooker but I'll give it a thumb.
Regards

I saw this book on Amazon for six quid, is it worth a go? Has anyone else seen it?

There is a free one here (not Kris Dhillon), If you can't read epub, convert it to pdf with  Calibre, free software download.

Thanks Les, I had a go on the freebie option but it wouldn't download to the iPad. I will give it a go on the lapdog later.

For just over a fiver I'll order the other one. I have all her other books so I may as well add this one. Probably some form of OCD, " must have the set", "must have the set"

Previously, I mentioned that I was experimenting with a slow cooker to prepare curries, and achieved half-decent results. Chewytikka chimed-in to say, in effect, that I must be mistaken and the results are almost bound to be rubbish, because he tried and failed. The implication appeared to be that if chewytikka can't produce good results from a slow cooker, then nobody can.

It's interesting that several members on this thread seem to think, like I do, that the approach has potential. Perhaps time will tell who's right - either chewytikka, or people who are more inclined to be optimistic.

I would be inclined to go with the latter George, Not everybody can be wrong ;D
