This is a really good salad / side CT. I made a batch up for NYE Tandoor night and it was a hit. Added to some Chicken Tikka or Lamb Kebab in a Roti with a touch of minted cucumber raita the combined wrap is delicious. While I couldn't get Patak's pickles in the time frame, I did manage to find Ashoka brand and actually used a Chilli Lime variety instead of the 2 individuals. I also added a big handful of chopped coriander leaf. It wont be the last time I make this up.

Happy New Year Livo
This became a good money spinner in the restaurant.
Even better at home with your own choice of favourite Indian pickles and chutneys
so many variations possible.
Glad you gave it a try

Chewy, it's my wedding anniversary today and to give my wife a little surprise I cooked a Sri Lankan inspired breakfast for her (and myself). Biththrara Appam (Egg hopper), fried mushroom and bacon served with a side of this spicy onion salad (cut up fine sambal style). Absolutely delicious. Next time I'll put up a photograph.
Thanks to Phil as well for posting the link to this site, on which I found this page

Quite simple to make. Very tasty and, if you could wait long enough to photograph it, looks good plated up. I made my wife's with the addition on sliced mushroom in the egg cooking stage. Your salad really compliments the hoppers which are traditionally eaten with curries in Sri Lanka. This is a very nice breakfast and I'd imagine a hippy caf
