Newbies first attempt...

Hows it going? I was overjoyed to find this site as i have been trying for SO long to recreate 'the taste' and, Im ashamed to admit, I have tried any number of quick solutions and also some ebay nonsense to get me there.
None worked, predictably, and I was despairing until I heard of Darths recipes. with all the good feedback I knew I had to give it a go and today I did! the curry gravy is cooling as I type but I thought I would use the time to say thanks to Darth for giving me the first recipe that actually looks like its going somewhere! Ive not tried it yet but im happy with what it looks like and it smells lush!

Looks like you are heading in the right direction ( can't go wrong with Darth's base ) - good luck with the recipes and please keep us posted .

The Dark lord of the Curryside is glad that you have tried his base Gravy ;D
You will find that it is versatile enough to be used for any Curry & because of it being a great tasting base it will turn out very predictable Curries every time.

i just had a look at it in the freezer and it smeels so gorgeous i had to resist easting some there and then!
out of interest darth - why is there no ghee in the recipe? i would have thought this would be fairly essential and was surprised to see it absent. is it just an urban myth that its utterly necessary?

Yep its a myth Bir's want to make max profit so cheep cheep as possible is the base, although I'm sure some may still use it on certain dishes.
Once you get into the swing of things you'll notice one fact ..most Bir's are making totally shoddy excuses for a Curry !!
You can add Ghee if you wish after all you are the one cooking it & eating it, don't hold back matey ;D.
As my good friend CurryCanuck puts it ...."Curry on"!

I only ever see Ghee added to Nan Bread...never in takeaway curry, i agree with the Dark Lord.
