Cut a couple of bits of channeling to keep the tikka off the grill, cheap and cheerful

Welding gal steel can cause metal sickness if zinc oxide is inhaled.  It is observed as a white powdery substance and is the same compound used in zinc cream sunblock. I'm not sure if you'd experience it with that setup. Maybe. It would depend on how hot it gets.

Like the little decorative skewers,, Ive been served the same in Turkish restaurants.
you could get a proper grilling rack to use, for about a fiver (food grade metal)
Love the way middle eastern people say KaBOB :D
