Stumbled across this excellent forum while looking for a recipe for Saag Bhindi.
I look after all the Asian cooking in our household (Indian and Thai but primarily Indian). I rely heavily on Anil Ashokan's superb book (now sadly out of print) 'Contemporary Indian Cooking'. No pre-bought spice mixes here....no, sirree! I buy all my ingredients from the excellent Friends Malayali Asian Store in Worcester.
I've been to India twice now and can't wait to go back. Fabulous country and people.
