You don't have to login to appear active. I used to follow one member (who was also previously another member) who used to look in everyday but never logged in till someone set him off in a Pioneer of the Year Awards thread.

Yes i know tragic before anyone mentions it  :)

The forum software records your ip address so it knows you've had a look regardless if you've logged in.
