I think you will find , in record terms, that the bhut jolokia, ghost chilli or naga , whichever you choose to call it is not the most painful chilli. It has been beaten by a number of chillies including he record holder Carolina Reaper (average 1.5 million) , closely followed by morugas , scorpion and numerous others. The bhut averages 800,000 to 1million.
There are even hotter chillies available that haven't been tested as of yet.
My spice level used to be madras, but nowadays I love to heat hotter than phall, but madras is my go to favourite
