Are you just talking about the muslin that is usually white fabric and is breathable?  Its very common for lining nappies so available quite cheaply in places like Mothercare.  Its even cheaper in house of fraser's material dept, approx ?1.25 for a metre!

I have a problem, I have already been in contact with woodpecker.  Since posting the original offer, I've started on my renovations and the disks are stored safely, too safely infact cos I cant find them!

So if anyone could send them to woodpecker instead pls!

Sorry folks, I did leave them out for a week or two but when no-one wanted them, they went into boxes with my other storage stuff :-/

Could I be cheeky and add my name to the list, I'd love to have a look at these.

Ian

Well im posting them to Woodpecker tonight, so if you pm him with your details, im sure he can pass them on.  I do this on another forum and its a great success, much better than having loads of copies hanging around in peoples houses!

Hi Angelina,

Did you get someone else to try your curry?? Always a good test is to have another curry lover sample your currys.

Yes my partner and son had some too.  My partner said that he thought it was identical in looks to a curry house one.  He thought it was lovely, but cant understand why i'd want it to taste identical!!!!

I used extra oil and skimmed off to save for the actual curry.  As soon as I poured it into the warm pan, I knew this was a very important stage.  This is the way to go for me from now on.

Looking forward to trying some other recipes, I have about four portions of Pete's base left and im undecided yet on whether to try the KD one, think i'll wait for more reports......

? Who knows?? I sometimes think that there is too much made of this secret ingredient and think it it more to do with the fact that somebody else has cooked it and presentation etc? I also think that freshness of spices and quantities must have a big part to play......

Agreed!

I made a curry the other day using Petes base sauce and a recipe for chicken chili massala (sorry dont remember who posted it) and it was wonderful.  No it didnt taste spot on the same as my local curry house, but as I had cooked it, I knew the ingredients were fresh, nothing had been stood around in a warm kitchen, there were no additives etc.  I got a real pleasure from eating it after spending so long preparing it, thats gotta be worth one over on the resturaunt curry hasnt it? Lol probably not, but I wont lose any sleep over it not being spot on :-)

Can I just add that Ray Graham very kindly sent me these proggies on dvd and im in the middle of watching them now.  If anyone else needs them, i'd be happy to post on.  It seems a shame to keep making new copies when peeps may only watch them once or twice.

So if anyone is interested in them, let me know, and i'll pass them on to the next person.

Spices / Re: What chillis do you use?
« on: October 12, 2005, 09:21 AM »
This sounds interesting, where do you folks get the seeds for these chillis?

On a related note,
If trying to grow coriander, use seeds from an Asian grocer rather than proper garden centre seeds as they're a tiny fraction of the cost. Alternatively, buy one of the live plants from a supermarket, break up the root ball and transfer to a larger pot with more compost.

I did this in the spring.  Bought a reduced coriander plant from the supermarket and planted it up.  Used the coriander in cooking untill it went to seed.  I then harvested the seeds, dried them and have a little tub of the most fragrant coriander seeds i've ever smelt, and all for about 25p!
