Hi Pauleey,
Yeah it is mate, ;D it's the frutescens, or the Indian naga jolokia, that I've grown.
There are nagas with either the frutescens or chinense genes.
Granted the pics you most normally see are of the chinense fruits especially the derived cultivar the "Dorset naga"
Either that or Peppers by post's done me up like a right kipper :(
Hot stuff either way
Sorry about the pic size in the last post

Hi,
Here's my first ripe naga. Took the plunge and tried a tiny bit about 5mm x 10mm x 1mm and WOW bags of fresh chili flavour followed by an intense heat that grew and grew for about 5 mins then peaked out and left me with the all over mouth heat that you get after a good hot madras, this lasted around 10 mins then it was gone.
Popped the rest of it in a Chinese my fiancee rustled up and was surprised that the heat seemed to lessen considerably with cooking  :-\

Got about 25-30 seeds with this one bad boy so if anybody fancies having a go at growing lava, give me a pm and I'll send you some seeds.
Cheers

Hi Guys,
Josh you've just about summed it all up there mate, all three, for me anyhow.
Here's my naga jolokias looking lovely, not bad considering they were seeds in mid Feb,
some fruits are about 3 inches long now and must be nearing ripeness.

Hi BB,
Don't see why not if they're on a south facing window sill and our Scottish/British weather gets it's act together :-\
Might be real late on in the year though. My birds eyes fruited through-out the winter months last year, albeit only one or two fruits at a time.
Keep 'em warm and look out for the flowers which you might have to pollinate yourself. I use a wee paint brush cos I don't know if they self pollinate or not.
Here's hoping for an Indian summer.

Hi Folks,
Here's a pic of my dorset nagas and hot lemon chillis, they're approx 20 weeks and about 10-11 inches, no sign of them begining to flower yet but it's still real early days for that, they're kept indoors overnight but I let them out during the day to harden them off, so far so good.

Grow Your Own Spices and Herbs / Re: Growing Fenugreek
« on: May 24, 2008, 03:44 PM »
Hi Folks,
Here's my methi grown from barts fenugreek seeds, where the white flowers are there grows a sword like pod that contains the new seeds, the smell is not that strong with the fresh leaves but if you pick off a few and leave them to dry out for a day or two the smell and flavour intensifies, it's the real deal.
 :D
Cheers
Mike
