Hi Everyone,

I'm largely vegetarian but eat fish too. Restaurants I like here in Edinburgh include Kalpna, and Kushie's. Over in Glasgow I like Mother India. Spend a fair bit of time in Govanhill where there are some sensational wee cafe places that don't look much from the outside. Sheeren Palace and Yadgar are the two most noteable. Also Kebabish. On a recent trip to London I found Dishoom which was just brilliant.

Recipe-wise I get on well with Anjum Anand but not so much with Madhur Jaffrey for some reason. Prashad though has been a revelation. Totally stunning blow by blow recipes from Mrs Patel.

Nice to be here.

Hi,

There is a great recipe for lemon pickle in the Prashad book, produced by the Yorkshire-based vegetarian restaurant.

The recipe specifies thin-skinned "indian lemons" but to use limes if you cannot find these.

I have made it successfully with limes but am keen to do the lemon version. The trouble is that here in Scotland I cannot find anything described as "indian lemons". These are supposed to be thin-skinned and look just like yellow limes. But all the lemons I see in shops, even specialist asian stores, are thick-skinned meditterranean specimens. Great for a gin and tonic but too pithy for pickle.

My brother in law in the north of endland is on the case and wonders if meyer lemons may fit the bill.

Anyone know where to get "indian lemons" in the UK. Even online?
