I'm going to make this later today with pre-ground coriander and cumin.

Would the seasoned curry chefs among us recommend going with with a 1:1 ratio or scale it back to say 2:1 to account for using ground spices instead of whole?

Edited to say:  Nevermind, I found my answer on page 7.  Carry on!

Thanks : -)

I jumped right in last weekend making Taz's base and mix to do a Jalfrezi and Biriyani and I was blown away by the result!  Obviously there's room for improvement and I'll need to hunt for proper ingredients, but I knew at first bite I was on to something.  I'm counting the minutes to the end of the workday so I can go home and play some more.

Hi everyone :)

I'm an American expat living with my English husband in Denmark of all places!  Danish food is a bit dire for our tastes.  We went for an Indian here and they actually microwaved the pakoras... blech!  That was after charging us 4 GBP for a pitcher of tap water.  Never again.

I've always liked Indian food, but my interest has been kicked into high gear with our many trips to London and the takeaways we have there. We even had Indian takeaway delivered to our hotel for our (Gibraltar) wedding dinner.  There's nothing even close in Denmark.

I was so happy to find this forum and to discover how helpful everyone has been.  You guys rock for sharing all of this information, thank you.

Thanks for the helpful replies!  I'll try frying in a small pan/wok, and bake a few to see how it goes.  I'll report back if I have any outstanding results to report from the baking.

Cool!  Thanks... that's much easier than I expected.  I cannot believe the lengths I go to here to create the simplest of dishes from what's available.

I'm new to this obsession and I'm not familiar with lemon dressing, could someone please enlighten me?  Homemade would be best if possible since I live in Denmark and the grocery offerings are basic to say the least.

Can anyone suggest a method for baking the samosas?

I've moved to a teeny tiny flat and sold my deep fryer, which I deeply regret on a weekly basis, but I just haven't got room for it.
