Lets Talk Curry / Re: Birmingham chilli festival

I went along on the Saturday with the lady and little-un. Lots of great produce for sale, got to try some lovely stuff. All in all a good day out (minus the EDL march just round the corner).

Managed to pick some of these up amongst other things, very much worth a purchase. They are over 1,000,000 scovilles too :D

Curry Base Chat / Blending
« on: February 18, 2013, 12:22 PM »
I was just wondering how everyone blends their bases? The reason I ask is because I made CA's base on the weekend. I waited for it to cool and then blended with a stick blender. I kept finding that the blended kept being sucked to the bottom of my pan and every time I tried to pull it up it would splatter everywhere  :-\

I accept that I am doomed to make a mess in the name of curry, however, I would like to reduce it where possible  ;) Any tips guys?

Hi guys, I'm new to the site and decided to make this base over the weekend. All I can say is WOW! I used it to make a mock (Quorn) chicken ceylon. It was amazing :) Just wanted to say a big thanks to CA for the recipe.

My only question is, in the recipe it calls for fresh tomato's. Would it be ok to use the same weight it tinned plum tomato's? (Just the tomato's, not the liquid in the tins).
