If you are in Monmouth at any time try the Jewel Balti. 39 Drybridge Street

We went there with some friends a few months back and it was great, food and service very good. The manager told us the original restaurant of the same name is on Chepstow road Newport. So we went to the Newport restaurant a few weeks later, it was just as good as the one in Monmouth. Give them both a try, were going the Newport restaurant  again this Saturday.

BIR Main Dishes Chat / Darthphall madras recipe
« on: February 18, 2007, 10:57 AM »
Hi to everyone
In the week I made my first curry base gravy using Darthphall recipe and put the bags in the freezer as he said .I also made a base for ?Chicken with onions? from an Indian recipe book. So on Saturday night I made ?chicken madras? and also a ?vegetable madras? following Darthphall madras recipe. When I started cooking the madras the first thing we notice was the smell, it smelt just like the BIR smell we couldn?t  believe it the house was filled it that wonderful armour .We had  poperdoms with lime pickle and sweet mango chutney to start .Then we sat down to our curry?s the taste was amazing same taste and consistence as our local BIR or takeaway we couldn?t believe it, all washed down with some lovely Belgian beer .I don?t know if this was a fluke are you supposed to get it right first time. Next week I will have a go at cooking laynebritton?s Lamb Bhoona, a big thank you  to everyone for their help on this great website .
