Title: On the dangers of re-heating eggs ...
Post by: Peripatetic Phil on April 21, 2015, 09:56 AM
Another bowls match last night, so again no time to cook and another egg-and-anchovy sandwich to sustain me for the battle ahead.  But this time I used two eggs that I had boiled on the previous occasion, peeling then re-heating them for 2 x 30 seconds in the microwave oven at full power.  All seemed fine until I tried to slice them using my egg slicer: 1/3 of the way in, no problem; 2/3 of the way in, an almighty explosion, and scalding hot egg yolk everywhere.  Yikes !

Put a whole one in and set it to 3 minutes, pull up a chair, then get the cleaning gear out.

We used to get a similar effect at work with the buffoons cooking porridge in a pyrex measuring jug for 5 mins not realising the microwave was 1800 watts. Blooooooooooooooppppppppp.
Spent longer cleaning it up.  ;

My wife drives our MW oven at 1 speed. She thinks she is still back in the days of a 600 watt.

No, sorry. MW = microwave. Using the tablet as no computer due to no electricity.
