Title: Can anyone recommend decent methi?
Post by: hs01 on March 16, 2015, 04:49 PM
Hi, as the title says I am looking for recommendations for decent methi. At the moment I am using MDH brand, which is full of stalks and does not rub down very well, can you help? Cheers   :-\

I take it we're talking dried here?

If so, Sunrise Wholefoods in Castle Douglas sell it for about 30p per 25g if I remember correctly. Almost entirely leaves. Unfortunately they don't deliver. But if dried leaves is what you're looking for, I'd be more than happy to send you a sample to try out.

Any other brand other than MDH which to me aren't that dissimilar in appearance to dried lime flowers.

I'm using the following at the moment.  It also has a few chopped up stalks in it but the Way I see it is the Chef's in the BIR's don't care so why should I so I always grind my Methi in my spice grinder....  I can't see em then so I don't care!   Good luck mate.

Sorry to all about the size of my pictures.  London has tried to help but I still don't have a grip on it. Someone please email me an "idiot proof" route.

Cheers

Depending on what type of computer/tablet/phone you use, you need to get your hands on a simple piece of software that will allow you to resize your pics to 720x538 pixel or thereabouts.

Thanks for all the replies, I actually had methi a few years ago with little or no stalks in it, funny thing was I never used it at that point and ended up binning it  ::) Oh well.

...Thanks Naga.

No bother, Stu. I should have said that there are plenty of freeware programmes available for Windows PCs, from simple drag' n'drop to full-functional graphics packages, that'll resize photos for you. Can't help with Mac, or  Apple or Android apps if that's what you need, but someone here will know enough to point you in the right direction. :)

My apology to hs01 for straying off-topic.

A real eye opener this. Mine is from a biggish box which I bin down to no room. I'll check what it is next time.

My methi is all leaf and green nothing like the big picture stuff.

I have had to get to like methi having initially not liked one bit. I have to hard fry it in the oil when using before the garlic.
