Morning all, I have 12 family members coming to mine on the 16th August. My sister-in-law is emigrating to Australia, so I sending them off with their final decent Indian curry ;D
I have always cooked curries on the hotter side, but she has requested a mild curry, says mine are normally too hot for her, even when I reduce the chilli, but heres where the problems begin. I do NOT cook, like or eat mild sweet curries.
So heres where you can help , what are good mild curry recipes on here? What does anybody recommend?
Cheers

Bhuna chicken would be my firm recommendation; none of the nauseating sweetness of chicken tikka masala or the banalness of your average korma, but a good savoury dryish curry with a depth of flavour that is hard to better.

Cheers Phil, do you have a recipe?
1/4 of my guests actually like sweet mild curries :'(
-
Hi MA sounds like you also will be cooking on a grand scale ;D it will be great experience and lots of prep!!
I think I would also go the Bhuna road as it's so similar to what u are used to cooking, and tastes great :)
-
Cheers lc , I still need korma/tikka masala recipes though.
I will be doing 4 Bhuna, 4 Jalfrezi, 4 Madras, A sneaky naga naga (shh dont tell anybody) and just need the sweet mild for the "tarts" ;D

You might like to try loveitspicy's take on Chicken Chasni (http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php/topic,8638.msg76690.html#msg76690) - very tasty with tikka and definitely won't blow your socks off! :)

Hi This is my first post, I am a newbie :)
Lamb Pasanda is a mild favourite of mine. I love the almonds.

Although not exactly BIR, I found this Chicken Butter Masala dish really good for a mild/creamy curry hit: http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php/topic,13119.msg107534/topicseen.html#msg107534 (http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php/topic,13119.msg107534/topicseen.html#msg107534)

Just serve them JB's base with some coriander sprinkled on top. :)

MA
Do a Medium Chicken Curry (No Chilli Powder or just a touch)
Then do the same again but turn it into a Rhogan with a Tomato Top.
Watch my video recipe, to get the idea. ;)

Good luck with it, have fun.

Ha yeah, with a swirl of cream
-
Cheers chewy I will certainly look at that option, Ill watch the video later when I have a bit of peace! Certainly make life easier :)
-
I can vouch for CAs Korma and Stephen Lindsay's Butter Chicken.
-
Cheers Garp, does ca korma need a little black tash adding?
-
I add a dash of self delusion and a pinch of arrogance ;D
But it is a good dish bud.
-
MA & Garp I think it comes pre added ! ;) I just can't bring myself to cook anything CA related.
It's always going to taste bitter ;D
-
Chewy
Great video of the rogan josh, it has been added to my menu.
Damn Im craving a bloody curry and its only half 7 am, shouldnt watch curry videos at breakfast.

That's where kedgeree comes in. The breakfast dish of (Indian) champions! ;D
Actually it's also a very nice mild rice dish if you have fish lovers at the table.

Wouldn't fish lovers be upset to find that they were eating flaked pieces of one of their favourite animals (smoked), mixed in with the rice, egg, parsley and spices ?

Whats everbodys favourite Tikka marinade?

Hi
Mickdabass's ( i like the anissed and the heat), Chewy's (I like the mustard in this ) and Blade's ( i like the simplicity and taste) in no particular order. I am using Laziza pastes where i have that in lieu of Pataks or Pascoes
Cheers

Mine, of course.
No yogurt, no Pataks, no worries ;D
-
Link to yours Garp? I could search for it but Im hungover and lazy (http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/imagehost/pics/b0c264d46dfc065616fccb1db50c0cbe.gif)
Cheers Phil I do like blades but I do not like pataks and I havent been able to get hold of any laziza pastes as of yet.
-
Having great success with Chewy's here, fully recommend adding the optional honey instead of sugar.
-
Cheers lc, it is one that I may be using, having a trial cook of it on friday night
